These boilers are some of the best that Vaillant made.

They came with built-in diagnostic indicator lights which illuminated in sequence, indicating the operational status of the boiler. 

This feature provides key information to aid commissioning and depending on flashing coloured lights, fault finding.

Most common faults with TURBOmax and THERMOcompact boilers

These boilers have no major faults other than if they were installed on a dirty heating system, the Differential Pressure Switch and small Hydraulic tubes would get blocked with sludge. 

The Diverter valve would also suffer from sticking and small leaks, stopping the micro-switch from turning the boiler on whenever hot water was required. 

When these boiler get a service we need to check the condition of the auto air vent for signs of leakage and the burner insulation pads for any cracks.

Vaillant annual boiler service. 

 

  • Conduct a system Gas Soundness Test.
  • Check the Air/Gas Flue System.
  • Measure the Gas Rate during operation.
  • Check Combustion with a Flue Gas Analyser.
  • Visually inspect boiler for corrosion or damage.
  • Check/ re-pressurise the Expansion Vessel.
  • Check and clean the ignition electrodes.
  • Check for dirt/ dust and clean.
  • Clean Fan, Heat exchanger and Burner
  • Re-pressurise the boiler/ system (1-2 bar).
  • Check Boiler for any leaks.
  • Record service visit in Manufacturers booklet.
  • Carry out electrical safety checks on boiler.
  • Fill out service sheet, send via email.

Some faults with boilers are not obvious and various tests have to be performed on the gas supply or electrical components before you can pinpoint the defect and give a quote.
If you choose not to proceed with the Quote, you will still be required to pay the diagnostic fee.
